The Danish government has promised a full investigation into the “growing challenge” of gambling addiction after an official report showed a tenfold increase in problem gamblers over the last eight years.
Benny Engelbrecht, the Danish tax minister, said yesterday that the government will now launch a comprehensive investigation into problem gambling after which it will follow up with the necessary action.
Engelbrecht said: “When the investigation is done we must together with the other parties discuss how to best target this.
“My objective is very clear. We must stop the increasing number of Danes who end up in addiction.”
