The Czech Ministry of Finance has defended its regulation of the country’s gambling sector after pro-government MPs accused it of ignoring the risks of online gambling in its planned tax increases.
A member of the government’s budget committee, Jiří Dolejš, has accused the finance ministry of neglecting its supervision of the online industry and instead seeking to squeeze money out of an already struggling land-based sector.
Dolejš is a member of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), which has a supply agreement to support the ruling coalition parties.
