Cypriot Regulator Expanding Its Supervisory Role

Cyprus' National Betting Authority (NBA) has said it is determined to strengthen its supervisory role and the country's regulatory framework, as it looks to develop and modernise the local gambling industry.

Ioanna Fiakkou, chairwoman of the NBA, the regulator responsible for overseeing all betting activities in Cyprus, laid down her authority's objectives over the next few years at the Cyprus Gaming Show on Tuesday.

The NBA, which only became operational in 2015, believes its biggest challenges are limiting the availability of illegal gambling, providing adequate player protections, preventing gambling addiction and strengthening its regulations.
