Criticism May Be Growing But UK Gambling Isn't, Official Says

A senior Gambling Commission official obliquely responded to attacks on the UK industry's responsible gambling credentials by pointing out that evidence does not suggest gambling participation or problem gambling are growing.

Participation in gambling has declined over three years and problem gambling is at least stable, said executive director Tim Miller.

"We need to look at evidence in the round, and not simply work from the gut," he said.

Miller, who had earlier spoken on a favourite Gambling Commission theme of safer gambling, was closing a Westminster eForum conference in London this week on "Next Steps for Online Gambling Regulation in the UK".
