Court Ruling To Force Belgian URL Split

Online gambling operators in Belgium may be forced to split their offerings over multiple websites following a ruling by the country’s Constitutional Court.

Belgium’s Constitutional Court, which settles conflicts between state and federal governments, has ruled that the ability for online licence holders to offer different products on the same url is not compatible with the country’s Gaming Act.

The seven-judge panel adjudged that Belgian’s online gambling industry must follow the same restrictions as its land-based equivalent, where individual buildings are limited to a single type of gambling activity.
