A push by Connecticut lawmakers to ban smoking at the state’s two tribal casinos has Mohegan Sun threatening sweeping retaliation in the most serious blowup between the powerhouse gambling resorts and state officials to date.Speaking to GamblingCompliance, a top Mohegan Sun executive insisted that if the proposed smoking ban is signed into law, the tribe will file suit in federal court and withhold hundreds of millions in badly needed slot revenue from cash-strapped state coffers.
Foxwoods, the state’s other tribal gambling powerhouse, has issued a statement supporting Mohegan Sun’s stand.
