Congress Enters Fray Over Justice Department Reversal On Internet Gambling

A heated exchange on Friday between a Maryland congressman and acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker is likely to fuel speculation about how much influence Las Vegas Sands chairman Sheldon Adelson may have had on the Justice Department’s reversal on internet gambling.

Democrat Jamie Raskin of Maryland grilled Whitaker about the January 14 opinion near the end of a highly publicized, six-hour hearing by the House Judiciary Committee regarding actions by the Justice Department (DOJ) during the Trump administration.
