Closely-Watched New Jersey Sports-Betting Policy Coming Into Focus

A sports-betting bill from New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney, introduced almost immediately after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a federal sports wagering ban on Monday, provides the clearest glimpse yet of where Garden State sports-betting policy is heading, according to Trenton sources.

The Sweeney bill — Senate Bill 2602 — is regarded by sources as the measure to watch in the coming weeks, during which New Jersey lawmakers are expected to frantically finalize a framework for land-based and online sports wagering.
