China Regains Almost Half Of Lottery Volume Run Rate

  • Lotto products dominate sales in March
  • Sports-betting volume down severely
  • Suspension of VLTs continues

Chinese lottery sales are halfway down the road to recovery, with the central government reporting almost $1.5bn in sales for March following reactivation of the bulk of the market mid-month.

Total lottery sales for the month fell 69.9 percent year-on-year to 10.51bn yuan ($1.48bn), with lotto products in Sports and Welfare lotteries driving the market, amid ongoing video lottery terminal (VLT) closures and stifled sports betting.
