China Lottery Revenue Shake-Up Could Boost Online Sales

Looming changes in the distribution of Chinese lottery revenues could see operating fees cut in favour of increased welfare funding, a move that could spur online reform and reduce corruption in the sector, according to analysts. 

The Ministry of Finance, which oversees regulation of China's welfare and sports lotteries, is thinking of reducing the 15 percent operating fee on lottery revenue by several percentage points as early as December, industry sources said.
