The Chinese Government has announced a zero-tolerance policy on the sale of lottery tickets via unauthorised websites. Meanwhile, legal doubt continues to surround the fate of UK AIM listed Chinese lottery supplier Betex as police investigations into the possible piracy of the company’s lottery software continue. The Chinese Ministry of Finance announced earlier this month that all unauthorised lottery websites must cease selling lottery tickets within a period of 30 days or face being forcibly shut down and its owners fined or prosecuted. Alongside the Ministry of Finance, three other government departments – Public Security, Civil Affairs and E-commerce - will be charged with enforcing the campaign.
