Online gambling operators are expected to gain a third chance to enter the Spanish market later this year, with the reopening of a licensing window tipped to coincide with various regulatory changes.
Although not official until formally called by Spain’s finance minister, Spanish regulators are expected to allow companies to step forward and seek general licences for online gambling later this year as an application window opens for the first time since 2014.
Just like three years ago, the licensing process is also expected to coincide with several additional regulatory reforms, according to participants at last week’s World Gaming Executive Summit (WGES) held in Barcelona.
