Camelot Launches Review After UK Lottery Sales Sink 9 Percent

UK National Lottery operator Camelot UK has launched an in-depth strategic review after posting its steepest ever decline in annual sales during the financial year ending March 2017.

The announcement of the strategic review coincided with the release of underwhelming operational results which showed that National Lottery sales slipped by 8.8 percent to £6.93bn in the 2016/17 financial year.

The latest shortfall, which represents only the second instance of year-on-year decline over the last ten years, is the most severe in available sales data going back to the turn of the century.
