Cambodia’s lower house of parliament has unanimously passed long-awaited gambling management legislation, which will set investment and compliance parameters and establish a gaming regulator.
The Legislative Assembly passed the gaming management bill with no amendments as the first order of legislative business on the opening day of the latest parliamentary session on Monday.
The bill now goes to the Senate, where it will not face meaningful opposition, before receiving royal assent.
The bill, which has yet to be published, contains a minimum threshold for gaming investment in integrated resort-style properties, but Khmer-language media, lawmakers and government officials have not stated what it is.
