Californian Lawmakers Plan Problem Gambling Initiatives

Having been informed last week of the extent of gambling addiction in their state, Californian Senators now plan to tackle the problem.

A Senate government committee was told last Tuesday how rising levels of problem gambling are leading to a series of other social problems in California, including prison overcrowding and an increase in the number of Californians committing suicide. The Senators also learned that there were only 15 certified pathological gambling counselors in the state to assist an estimated 1.5m gambling addicts.
