Business As Usual For Payment Processors After Wire Act Ruling

A New Hampshire federal judge’s ruling to strike down a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) opinion that threatened the online gambling industry vindicates the decision of payment companies to continue processing regulated transactions, according to conference panelists.

In a 60-page opinion released June 3, federal judge Paul Barbadoro rejected the DOJ’s reversal late last year of a legal opinion issued in 2011 that paved the way for the growth of online gambling in the U.S.
