Argentina’s federal capital district of Buenos Aires has swiftly followed its neighboring province in passing a law to regulate online gambling.
A bill to legalize online sports betting, casino, poker and lottery games within Buenos Aires’ borders was passed by the city legislature on Thursday — just over a week after the province of Buenos Aires did the same when adopting its 2019 budget law.
The new law in the Argentine capital city will require any operator of internet gambling to obtain a permit or license from the Buenos Aires lottery authority, the same agency charged with drawing up more specific implementing regulations.
