Pressure on online gambling affiliates to meet tightening privacy and data protection rules could wipe out buccaneering “bottom feeders”, or the whole industry, experts have said.
The growing controversy around affiliates was a central topic at last week’s KPMG eGaming Summit 2017. Will they consolidate, will operators rein them in, will they survive as a trade?
“I think the affiliates’ day is over, largely as the result of the ethical processes the operators have to adhere to,” said Hilary Stewart-Jones, a DLA Piper consultant, speaking on a panel at the Isle of Man conference.
