Brazilian UIGEA Takes Shape

Draft legislation to impose an online gambling payments ban in Brazil is to be examined in the country’s Senate, but wider political question marks leave the bill’s eventual prospects uncertain.The online gambling legislation - which will also ban payments connected to child pornography websites - was finally sent to the Senate’s Communications and Technology Committee earlier in August, more than a year after it was first proposed by Senator Magno Malta as a Brazilian equivalent of the United States’ Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
