Brazil Urged To Act Fast On Sports Betting, Casino Expansion

Brazilian policymakers should act fast to implement a new law to regulate sports betting and pass additional legislation to authorize casinos, according to lawmakers and other speakers at this week’s Brazilian Gaming Congress in São Paulo.

Legislation approved in December legalized fixed-odds sports betting for the first time in Brazil but granted the country’s Ministry of Finance a period of up to four years to adopt specific rules governing how the market will function and how licenses will be awarded.
