Brazil will propose an open licensing regime for sports betting and seek to apply a reduced tax rate of one percent on turnover, the country’s chief lottery official has said.
Brazil’s Ministry of Economy is applying the finishing touches to a draft regulatory decree for online and retail sports betting, which it expects to publish for public comment later this month, Alexandre Manoel, head of the ministry’s SECAP unit, said in comments reported by the O Globo newspaper on Friday.
