After aborting plans for an open licensing system, Brazil now intends to award just 30 concessions for online and retail sports betting, according to a consultation notice published on Tuesday.
Brazil’s Ministry of Economy opened its third recent consultation on sports betting on Tuesday evening, publishing draft plans for a concession process alongside a ten-page draft regulatory decree.
An earlier draft decree published last September had proposed an open licensing regime to implement a December 2018 law authorizing both online and retail fixed-odds sports betting.
