Bookmakers are experiencing increased levels of interest in political betting markets due to the unlikely outcomes of Brexit and Donald Trump's presidency, according to Ladbrokes' top politics trader.
Matthew Shaddick, head of politics betting at Ladbrokes, claimed during a webinar hosted by SBC that his company has seen new types of customers trying their luck with predicting political outcomes since the 2016 US presidential election.
“The failure of polls has led people to become more confident about their intuition and less confident of traders odds ability to predict political outcomes. We are looking forward to Trump’s attempt to become re-elected next year, we are predicting that it will be our biggest political market ever,” said Shaddick.
