UK bookmakers are gearing up for general election betting with a reputation to salvage, having infamously called Brexit the wrong way.
On Thursday, Betfair had Prime Minister Theresa May’s Conservative Party with a 94 percent chance of gaining the most seats in a snap election she called this week, while Ladbrokes had 12-1 odds against the opposition Labour Party taking power.
Then again, Betfair punters gave “Remain” a 92 percent chance of winning not long before last June’s vote, in which “leave” triumphed by a 52 percent margin.
