It is safe to say David Rebuck, New Jersey’s top gambling regulator, can keep his job as long as he likes even though he is a Republican who could be replaced at any moment by Democratic Governor Phil Murphy.
“I don’t care what party Dave Rebuck is in. He’s one of the great regulators in the United States, if not the world,” Murphy told VIXIO GamblingCompliance earlier this month at the annual winter meeting of the National Governors Association in Washington, D.C.
Appointed by Republican Governor Chris Christie in 2011, the 67-year-old Rebuck is close to completing a decade as director of New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
