Bill To Grant OPAP’s Online Monopoly Headed For December 11 Vote

Betting operators are waiting to see whether Greek lawmakers will take up a proposed legislative amendment that would give OPAP a monopoly on most internet-gambling products through to 2020, extending the betting giant’s offline control online.

The Greek Finance Ministry is circulating an amendment granting the Greek company the same monopoly it has offline, in a proposal set for debate on December 11. Sports betting and a dozen other products would be included, and the exception would be poker tournaments.
