Austria's parliament is set to give a parliamentary committee sweeping powers to investigate an explosive corruption scandal involving two of the country's biggest names in gambling, Casinos Austria and Novomatic.
The economic crimes and corruption prosecutor (WKStA) is investigating nearly a dozen people over claims of corruption, bribery and illegal political funding in connection with alleged promises to benefit Novomatic.
Following a contentious hearing this week, the National Council, the lower house of parliament, will decide whether to set up a parallel investigation on December 11.
