The Austrian Ministry of Finance has issued a draft amendment to the country’s Gambling Act proposing website blocking against illegal online gambling and a provision for players to claim back losses from unlicensed operators.
The proposed measures also include plans to establish a new gambling regulatory authority under the Ministry, entitled the Competence Centre for Gambling, to supervise and license the gambling sector.
"In the fight against illegal internet gambling, the Gambling Act Amendment 2018 marks another important step towards youth and player protection," said minister of finance Hartwig Löger.
