A state judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the Arkansas Racing Commission (ARC) that prevents the regulatory body from issuing a casino license in Pope County to Legends Resort & Casino.
Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Wendell Griffen signed the restraining order on Friday.
According to the 11-page ruling, the seven-member commission was scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday to discuss a ten-year license for a proposed casino-resort by Cherokee Nations Business.
Griffen issued the order in response to a lawsuit filed by the group Citizens for a Better Pope County that claimed the ARC violated its rules by opening a second period to review casino applications.
