Amaya plans to enter the U.S. daily fantasy sports market before September and expects to launch PokerStars in New Jersey in the same timeframe, according to CEO David Baazov.
Speaking on a conference call Tuesday, Baazov said Amaya hopes to leverage PokerStars’ database of former U.S. customers to take on FanDuel and DraftKings in the booming daily fantasy sports, or DFS, market later this year.
“The goal is to be up before the NFL season starts,” Baazov said, while suggesting Amaya plans to develop the operation in-house rather than make a major acquisition.
