Delegates at last week’s Casino Affiliate Convention in Amsterdam were too busy discussing new market opportunities to lament the damaging effects of the UIGE Act. But while affiliates now lose far more sleep over Google rankings than they do over US Department of Justice scrutiny, their chances of prosecution are higher than ever.
Casino affiliates and operators descended on the Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam last week to assess the state of affiliate marketing for online gambling as the industry begins to consolidate following the passage of the UIGE Act in October 2006. Unsurpisingly, the UIGEA hit many webmasters hard, particularly those who relied upon driving customers to those companies most affected by the US legislation such as Partygaming, 888.com and Sportingbet.
