Gambling affiliates have been accused of exploiting coronavirus panic to encourage gamblers to spend more, prompting operators and technology providers to react.
Ian Sims, founder of online affiliate compliance provider Rightlander, said his company has seen “several instances” of affiliates using the ongoing pandemic for marketing purposes.
Sims said: “Generally speaking, these have been positioned around having time on your hands and needing something to do, [even though] 'boredom' is widely regarded as a trigger for problem gambling.”
