888 Holdings executives suggested that the industry's approach to an unappealing and controversial German online licensing regime will be to go part-rogue, running a licensed sports betting website but also a separate, unauthorised online casino website backed by legal challenges.
Online gambling operators expect to confront the planned gambling-unfriendly interim German licensing regime by applying for a sports betting licence, but also offering a stand-alone dot-com online casino site and mounting legal challenges to support it, said 888's chief financial officer Aviad Kobrine.
