Chinese gaming company 500.com has called in a global law firm with intimate government connections to assist an internal probe into its former consultants detained in Japan.
New York-listed 500.com said on Thursday in a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the company’s Special Investigation Committee (SIC) will receive legal assistance from King & Wood Mallesons, a law firm with high-level connections to the Chinese government and that has embraced Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
