$30 Tickets Prop Up U.S. Lottery Sales In Flat FY2017

Scratch-off games priced at between $10 and $30 accounted for the majority of instant lottery sales at reporting U.S. lotteries for the first time in fiscal 2017, as players continued to shift spending towards higher-payout products.

Following a flurry of annual report publications around the turn of the year, 30 of 45 state lotteries in the U.S. have now reported detailed sales figures for the financial year ending June 2017.

Total sales across the 30 reporting lotteries fell back 0.8 percent year-on-year to $57.7bn as a 6.7 percent decline in draw game sales to $20.2bn offset 2.6 percent growth in instant lottery sales to $37.5bn.
