A new report into the grey online market in Spain issued by GamblingData ahead of the possible regulation of the market late in 2011 or early 2012 suggests the market is currently worth between €210m and €250m.
The report into the Spanish gaming market also suggests that the introduction of online gaming cannot come too early for a land-based industry which is still struggling to shake off the worst effects of the recession.
According to data from the Ministry of Interior, the Spanish land-based industry suffered a 7 percent fall in amounts staked in 2009 to €30.1bn, largely due to the impact of the economic downturn and the effect that has had on the joblessness figures.
