New York’s Pretlow Eyes Legislative Relief For DFS

Following a New York judge’s order Friday for DraftKings and FanDuel to cease operations, a key Empire State lawmaker told GamblingCompliance that he is willing to support a constitutional amendment to legalize fantasy sports.

New York Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee chairman Gary Pretlow said he is now planning to file a proposed constitutional amendment to make fantasy sports legal, if courts uphold Judge Manuel Mendez’s order Friday to bar the two major daily fantasy sports (DFS) operators from operating in the Empire State.

A New York appellate court granted a stay on Mendez’s order for injunctions on the companies Friday, allowing DraftKings and FanDuel to stay online.
