Penn National Gaming, which operates a retail gaming business in Illinois, has thrown its support behind a bill that would legalize video gaming terminals (VGT) in Pennsylvania; a measure that so far is not supported by the state’s 11 other casino operators.
Eric Schippers, senior vice president at Penn National, said the state’s other 11 casinos “are going to have to sit down with their business people and their accountants too and run the math.”
But Schippers also believes the bill strikes a balance between establishing a new industry with the expected cannibalization the casinos’ slot operations will suffer from VGT competition.
