Data Protection

We've all received junk mail in the post or an unsolicited email offering a particular product or service. But have you ever wondered how that company got your personal details such as your name and address? The right to privacy is a concept to which we can all relate. In the business context, privacy concerns the collection, storage and use of personal information. Central to a right of privacy is the public's expectation that information collected and stored by firms will be protected from unauthorised access, use and disclosure.

Our Data Protection course ensures your organisation is compliant with the current lawful use of customer data under the UK Data Protection Act, alongside being ready for the new EU legal framework, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force in May 2018.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

Summarise the background to data protection.

Recognise the key data protection definitions.

Know the laws and regulations in relation to data protection, and understand the reform of European data protection legislation which will apply in 2018.

Be aware of the rights of individuals with respect to data protection.

Have explored case studies which highlight the importance of data protection.
